How Lauren Earned Two Degrees with the Help of Residential Home Health and Hospice
Lauren Wickersham had spent years growing professionally within home health and hospice, most recently advancing from Clinical Director to Regional Director and Administrator for Residential. To supplement this success, she set her sights on continuing her education.

“The Gift of Knowledge was in our handbook with the benefits, and I am the nerd that reads the employee handbooks cover to cover,” Lauren shares. This program, offered as part of her benefits package with Residential Home Health and Hospice, offers discounts of 50% to 90% on undergrad and graduate programs through Purdue University, as well as other financial support for several certificates and licenses.
This opportunity is what prompted Lauren to begin a two-year journey to earn both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Business Administration. While these new degrees will certainly help Lauren within her career, she also saw her continued learning as a chance to show herself – and her kids – that she could do anything she set her mind to.
“I went to school for personal development more than career development. It was amazing to be able to check things off my bucket list at a highly discounted rate and do all of this while raising four children who watched me wake up early or stay up late to complete the schoolwork and lectures,” says Lauren. “Not only did this program make it possible for me to reach my goals – it also had a strong impact on my children, as they were able to see me as an example for their future and learn that anything is truly possible.”
Now equipped with the Gift of Knowledge, Lauren is looking ahead at what’s to come. She could see herself in a VP position or other leadership role with expanded oversight, but she remains open to what the future holds.
No matter what’s next, though, Lauren knows that her foundation for long-term success is thanks to the learning opportunities at Residential Home Health and Hospice. “I feel very supported with Residential and the benefits they offer to their employees. I feel valued in my role. It was very nice having people on the leadership team support me while I got my degree, and, in turn, I am doing the same for others,” she emphasizes.
